Indonesian militant website offers foreigner-killing tips

A website apparently created by Indonesian terrorists outlines the best way to assassinate foreigners in the capital, and suggests a popular shopping mall as one of the best venues for an attack.

Police said they were investigating the Indonesian-language site but had not yet closed it down.

It includes a very basic map of a mall and nearby offices, and gives simplistic instructions like "ensure the target is killed by shooting him several times in the heart and head".

A TV report said the site was created by a suspect arrested in last month's deadly bombings on the resort island of Bali.

It also includes hardline Islamic propaganda and what is claimed to be writings by one of the militants currently on death row for his role in earlier Bali bombings in 2002.

Under a "tactics" section of the site, several pages give tips on how to carry out assassinations of foreigners in cars or on foot, either by shooting or with hand grenades.

"Shooting at the driver should not be the objective because normally the driver is a Muslim," the site advises.

One page provides a map of the streets leading to a shopping mall in downtown Jakarta, and notes it is popular with expatriates for lunch.

Militants have carried out four bombings against Western targets in Indonesia since 2002, killing more than 240 people, many of them foreigners. Individuals have not been targeted.
