Angola Press, Thursday, December 22, 2005

PHNOM PENH, 12/15 - An Australian man was arrested by Cambodian police suspected of taking pornographic photos of children and sexually abusing them, local media reported on Thursday.

Damien Walker, 26, was arrested while on his way to home on Tuesday. Police subsequently found seven boys aged 11 to 14 inside his apartment, The Cambodia Daily reported.

Anti-pedophile NGO Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE) cooperated with the police in the arrest, and alleged that four photos have been found on the suspect`s computer that show him in sexual positions with some of the boys, while other photos were downloaded from the Internet.

Beatrice Magnier, APLE director, said the NGO had been monitoring the suspect for about two weeks prior to the arrest.

Walker is the 23rd foreigner arrested in Cambodia on the basis of investigations conducted by APLE, the NGO said.

Keo Thea, deputy chief of the municipal anti-trafficking police, said that Walker admitted to police that he started such activities in the last two weeks, "and we are keeping the boys as witnesses during his trial."
